More about Maria...
Maria’s first contact with Port wine, at least from what she can remember, was at a very young age scooping with her index finger from her father’s glass. Maria and her sister were raised in Lisbon with their mother, while their father would frequently go to the Douro region to work. Maria would join her father on these trips during harvest time and on weekends, and despite not being born in the vineyards, nor in the winery, still as a toddler she showed a high interest in Port wine, being once caught at the age of five flipping upside-down the living room’s crystal bottles so that she could use the bottle stoppers as a special "Port" pacifier.

Maria studied management and business administration in Lisbon. After obtaining her university degree, she decided to follow a career as an IT business manager. Vieira de Sousa started selling in 2010, and by 2016 the company was booming and her sister Luisa could no longer keep up with sales and clients. Maria then joined Vieira de Sousa and since then she has taken in all areas of the business. Most of the days she is promoting Vieira de Sousa around the world, but during harvest time and preparation of new blends, she is directly involved in the production and winemaking. At this moment she is responsible for all the sales, communication, and new product development at Vieira de Sousa. The winery has been in the family for five generations and the sisters have arguably brought it to its highest international prominence in the modern day.
